We were two days from hitting the road – on our way to our new retirement location. The Uhaul was waiting for us, our kids had arrived to help with the load-on and we were ready to boogie on down the road.
Two days until our departure and I received “the call”!
My kidney transplant team had a kidney for me! WHAT? We were in shock, after waiting over two years for this to happen. We feel very fortunate that I was matched with a donor kidney – some people wait 5 years and longer. We are still reeling from the timing. The universe was playing with us for sure.
We climbed in our truck, raced to the hospital, an hour and a half trip and I was in surgery within a few hours. I’m home now and my recovery is going very well – everything is trending in the right direction. I feel so much better!
Thank you to all my friends and supportive acquaintances for your good wishes and for checking in on me. I appreciate each and every one of you.
Ever onward……….
In this age of awful news, your post was a welcome sight. How absolutely fortunate you are to have a much needed kidney.
This puts a new light on your retirement.
The Avanti world must look for a new Guru,
but you served them well. I know Thom always enjoyed hanging around your shop.
My best to you and Gail in the years ahead.
